At CombiKombi, every project begins with a vision. Our Volkswagen Kombi T1 – REF C876 is another example of how an original classic Volkswagen can be transformed into a completely personalized vehicle, built according to the client’s exact requirements.
The vehicle was presented to the customer, the project was finalized, and from there we began the process of customizing the vehicle until its export to Hamburg.

The vehicle
The project started with the vehicle in its original condition, providing the perfect foundation for a complete customization process. From the beginning, the goal was to preserve the character of the classic T1 while adding the features and details requested by the client.
The vehicle also underwent a complete mechanical inspection and revision, ensuring that the restoration and customization would be supported by a reliable mechanical foundation.
Customization Process – Sunroof and Samba windows
The first stage of the project focused on the most iconic visual elements requested by the client: the installation of Samba windows and a Ragtop sunroof.
These modifications completely changed the character of the vehicle while maintaining the classic appearance of the T1. Every installation was carried out specifically for this project, following the client’s specifications and our quality standards.

The Paintwork
Once the main body modifications were completed, the vehicle moved to the painting stage.
The entire exterior was repainted according to the specific color and finish requested by the client. This stage was particularly important because the final appearance of a classic Volkswagen depends heavily on the quality of the body preparation and paintwork.
The result was a clean, high-quality finish that brought together all of the modifications made during the project.
Ready to Ship
With the paintwork completed, the project entered its final stage.
The T1 received all of the options and details requested by the client, including:
- Custom upholstery made according to the client’s specifications
- Samba windows
- Ragtop sunroof
- Roof rack
- Stainless steel side ladder
- Rear tow hitch
- Sofa bed
- Additional exterior and interior finishing details
Every element was installed on demand, making this vehicle a truly personalized T1 rather than simply a standard restored example.
The final result combines the original character of the Volkswagen T1 with the comfort, practicality and style requested by its new owner.
Export & Delivery
Once the customization was completed and the vehicle received its final inspection, our team prepared the T1 for international export.
The vehicle was carefully secured for transportation, with particular attention to protecting the bodywork, interior and all newly installed components during the journey.
CombiKombi managed the complete export process, from the preparation of the vehicle and export documentation to the international shipping arrangements.
The REF C876 was exported to Hamburg, Germany, where it will begin the final stage of its journey to its new owner.
